Task Force nab two for extortion in Hyderabad’s Chandrayangutta

Hyderabad: The Task Force (South-East) team along with the Chandrayangutta police nabbed two offenders including a boy juvenile against whom an extortion case was booked here on Friday. A scooter and phones, altogether worth Rs 1 lakh was seized.


Police said Shaik Ahmed Jabri (24), against whom a suspect sheet is active in Chandrayangutta, along with the boy juvenile had recently abused, assaulted and extorted money from a group of youngsters. Based on a complaint, the Chandrayangutta police booked a case and arrested them.


 

Five arrested for murder over love affair in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Santoshnagar police have arrested five people, including a woman, in connection with the murder of Mohd Aslamek, which was reported earlier this we.

Two knives, one auto-rickshaw and four mobile phones were seized. The arrested persons were identified as Syed Faisal, Yasmeen Begum, Mohd Muneer, Syed Firdous and Syed Fazal.

According to the police, Syed Faisal, who was having an affair with Yasmeen Begum, the widow-sister of the victim Aslam, often had arguments with him over the relationship. As a result, Faisal wanted to eliminate Aslam and his decision was supported by Yasmeen.

As per plan on April 7, Faisal had called Aslam near the DB Shah Dargah graveyard, where he along with other suspects stabbed him to death.


 

Drug peddler, two consumers held in Hyderabad; 1.5 kg marijuana seized

Hyderabad: The Task Force (South-West) team along with the Tappachabtura police nabbed one drug peddler and two consumers and seized 1.5 kg of marijuana worth Rs 75,000 from them on Friday.

The arrested persons are Mohd Imran, a drug peddler and Ahmed Khan and Mohd Asif, both consumers. Police said Imran, who is a rowdy sheeter of Tappachabutra, procured marijuana from Nagpur and sold it to consumers in Hyderabad at a high rate and made easy money.


 

Woman sentenced to death for killing daughter in Suryapet

Suryapet: A tribal woman, Banoth Bharati was sentenced to death on Friday for murdering her own daughter in Mekapati Tanda, a village in Mothe Mandal. Bharati married Banoth Krishna and the couple had a baby girl from their marriage.

However, Bharati’s mental state reportedly deteriorated over time. Influenced by a claim that she had a “sarpa dosha”, Bharati began performing religious rituals more often.

On April 15, 2021, while Krishna was away, Bharati was alone at home with her daughter. She killed her daughter by slitting her throat with a knife. On learning about the murder of his daughter, her husband, Krishna rushed home and filed a complaint with the Mothe police.

The First Additional District Judge of Suryapet, M Shyam Sri, conducted due trial leading to conviction of Bharati in the case. She was sentenced to death by hanging.
