Telangana CSB facilitates refund of Rs 43.3 crores to 4,961 cyber frauds victims during Lok Adalat

Amount refunded since CSB started the initiative through Lok Adalat mechanism in 2024 stands at Rs 191.21 crores

Hyderabad: The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TSCSB) facilitated a refund of Rs 43.3 crores to 4,961 victims of cyber frauds during the recently held National Lok Adalat 2025.

Shikha Goel, Director, TSCSB said with a significant percentage of complaints successfully processed for refunds during the national Lok Adalat reaffirming the commitment of law enforcement to combat digital crimes and restore stolen funds.

In 2024, TGCSB facilitated refunds amounting to Rs 183.92 crores for 17,912 victims, setting a national benchmark for cybercrime resolution. The official said that total amount refunded since TGCSB started the initiative of refund through Lok Adalat mechanism on 20 the February, 2024 stands at a whopping Rs 191.21 crores being refunded to 21,722 victims of cybercrimes.

“The initiative provided swift financial relief to cyber fraud victims by facilitating refunds through an expedited judicial process,” said Shikha Goel.

The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB), had collaborated with the State Legal Services Authority, various financial institutions, and Commissioners of Police and District SPs, to ensure refund of the amount.

Shikha Goel said that the success of this initiative underscores the effectiveness of the Cybercrime Lok Adalat, which ensures swift justice and financial recovery for victims.

“TGCSB, in coordination with banks, digital payment service providers, and unit officers, facilitated real-time dispute resolution to expedite reimbursements for victims of UPI frauds, investment scams, and unauthorised transactions,” the official explained.

Citizens urged to stay vigilant

The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau asked citizens to stay vigilant against cyber fraud. It asked people to never share personal or banking details over calls or emails from unknown sources, verify customer care numbers only from official websites before making financial transactions and avoid clicking on suspicious links received via SMS, email, or social media.

Units that secured the highest refunds for victims

● Cyberabad – 1,331 cases and Rs 9.26 crores refund

● Rachakonda – 747 cases and Rs 9.38 crores refund

● Hyderabad – 510 cases and Rs 12.36 crores refund

● Nizamabad – 250 cases and Rs 1.9 crores refund

● Kothagudem – 210 cases and Rs 50 lakhs refund

● Sangareddy – 163 cases and Rs 75 lakhs refund
