Karimnagar: The process of enumeration and listing of Dalit families in Huzurabad Assembly constituency will begin from Friday, and all the 21,000 Dalit families in five mandals and two municipalities under the constituency would be covered by September 3. The district administration has formed special teams to carry out the exercise.

CMO Secretary (Dalit Bandhu Scheme) Rahul Bojja, who held a review meeting with Dalit Bandhu special officer here, said each team will comprise three to five officials including a district-level officer, Tahsildhars, MPDOs and others. About 400 officials including 350 from Karimnagar district and 60 from Kamalapur of Warangal urban district will take part in the enumeration and listing process. In all, 26 sectoral officers and 100 mandal supervisors have also been appointed. Every day, each team will cover about 100 to 150 families, he said.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Rahul Bojja said every Dalit family would be eligible for the scheme as stated by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao while launching Dalit Bandhu in Huzurabad on August 16. “There will be no restriction in the selection of beneficiaries for Dalit Bandhu, which will be implemented on the lines of Rythu Bandhu,” he said.

The government, he said, already has details of Dalit families and survey teams would list out the details of families in Huzurabad segment. A district-level officer was appointed for three to four villages. The first level of interaction with beneficiaries by the officials would take place at the time of enlisting the families. Besides opening separate bank accounts for Telangana Dalit Bandhu, survey teams will also discuss the business proposals the beneficiaries are interested in and sensitise them about income generation methods.

Later, the line department officials would interact with beneficiaries. Stating that it would take about one year to ground the business units, he said families would be given training in the business chosen by the beneficiaries. Informing that 20 to 30 businesses had been identified, Rahul Bojja said there was a huge demand for dairy besides tractors and auto trolleys. Youngsters can also choose medical shops, pesticides, fertiliser and other businesses.

Stating that the businesses would be monitored for about two years, he said that since the scheme would be implemented across the State, the pilot project in Huzurabad Assembly constituency will help identify issues that would be useful while implementing the scheme in other parts of the State.

Pointing out that Rs 1,500 crore had already been deposited in the district Collector’s bank account, Rahul Bojja said the remaining amount would be released within a few days. The amount would directly be deposited in the bank accounts of beneficiaries from the Collector’s account. District Collector RV Karnan said a bank was allocated to each mandal to open bank accounts of all Dalit families.
