Telangana DGP-designate CV Anand brings rich, varied experience to the top post
Senior IPS officer CV Anand, appointed as Telangana's Director General of Police, is likely to assume charge on May 1. A 1991-batch officer who served as Hyderabad Police Commissioner twice, Anand has held several key posts, including stints in Cyberabad and Vijayawada, and is a recipient of the President's Police Medal for Gallantry.

Hyderabad: Senior IPS officer CV Anand, who has been appointed by the state government as Telangana DGP (Head of Police Force) is likely to assume charge on May 1.
A 1991-batch IPS officer, he served as Hyderabad Police Commissioner twice, from 2021 to 2023 and 2024 to 2025 and during his tenures worked towards curbing drug abuse and cybercrime, apart from maintaining law and order during major festivals and public gatherings and dealing firmly with criminals.
Anand joined the service with his first posting as Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in Warangal and served as District Superintendent of Police for the first time in Nizamabad.
Belonging to the Telangana cadre, he was promoted as Additional Director General of Police in 2017 and moved to Central services and returned to Telangana in 2021.
Anand was removed from the post of Commissioner of Police (CP) during the 2023 Assembly elections. The Congress government, which came to power thereafter, gave him the charge of Director General, Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB). He was appointed as Hyderabad Police Commissioner for the second time in September 2024.
A recipient of the President’s Gallantry Medal, Anand served as police commissioner in Vijayawada, Cyberabad and also served with the Civil Supplies Commissioner, DG, Anti Corruption Bureau and the Vigilance and Enforcement wing. He also served on deputation with Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and National Industrial Security Academy (NISA).
