Telangana DGP directs police to strengthen security for Ganesh festivities

Telangana DGP C V Anand directed police to make comprehensive security arrangements for Ganesh festivities from September 14 to 25. Officers will digitally capture pandal details, inspect arrangements, map immersion routes and deploy bomb detection teams and dog squads

Hyderabad: Telangana DGP C V Anand has directed police officers to make comprehensive security arrangements for the Ganesh festivities, which will begin on September 14 and conclude with the immersion of idols on September 25.

Addressing senior police officers and station-level personnel through a video conference, Anand reviewed the preparedness for the celebrations and directed officers to remain vigilant from the setting up of pandals until the completion of the immersion process.

The DGP said details of all Ganesh pandals would be digitally captured through a dedicated online portal, including their locations, organisers, committee members and vehicles being used for immersion. Station House Officers have been provided with dedicated logins to monitor the arrangements, while Commissioners of Police, Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police were asked to personally inspect pandals and record their observations.

For the immersion on September 25, officers were directed to map routes, roads and bridges in advance and assess their load-bearing capacity. Traffic diversions and security arrangements should be planned accordingly. Officers were also directed to upload the geo-tagging of pandals and security measures to the TG-COP platform to facilitate monitoring.

The DGP also directed the deployment of bomb detection teams and dog squads wherever required and called for regular coordination meetings with Ganesh Utsav committees and peace committees.
