Telangana EAGLE Force arrests two for ganja peddling in Nalgonda
The Telangana Police’s EAGLE Force arrested two Hyderabad men in Nalgonda for allegedly selling ganja. Police seized 4.5 kg of the drug and said the accused sourced it from Odisha before selling it in smaller packets.
Hyderabad: The EAGLE Force of Telangana police arrested two persons for allegedly selling ganja to customers in Nalgonda district on Saturday.
Acting on a tip-off, the EAGLE team caught Syed Majid Hussain (25) and Sohail Ali (26), both residents of Hyderabad, while they were carrying 4.5 kilograms of ganja.
According to the EAGLE Force Director, Sandeep Shandilya, the prime suspect, Hussain, a resident of Mallepally in Hyderabad, got addicted to drugs a few years ago and often purchased from drug peddlers in the Mangalhat area for Rs 500 per packet.
“To keep up with his addiction, he started selling ganja to customers and brought more drugs with the money. Four months ago, he got acquainted with a drug peddler from Odisha through Instagram,” the official said.
Hussain and his friend, Sohail, travelled to Odisha multiple times. “On January 7, they were handed over nearly 4.5 kg of ganja in three packets. Both men returned to Hyderabad two days later,” the EAGLE Director said.
They repackaged the ganja into smaller packets and sold it to customers at Rs 500 each in Nalgonda Town and Mallepally areas. Based on a tip-off, both were arrested.
A case has been registered, and further investigations are ongoing.
