Telangana election petition: Supreme Court rules in favour of Asifabad MLA Kova Lakshmi

The Supreme Court has dismissed a petition by Congress leader Ajmeera Shyam Naik challenging Asifabad MLA Kova Lakshmi’s 2023 election victory over alleged false information in her affidavit. The ruling upholds an earlier Telangana High Court decision in Lakshmi’s favour.

Komuram Bheem Asifabad: The Supreme Court on Thursday ruled in favour of Asifabad MLA Kova Lakshmi in a petition filed by her Congress opponent, Ajmeera Shyam Naik, over the 2023 Assembly elections in the constituency.

Shyam Naik had alleged that Lakshmi submitted false information in her election affidavit. A bench led by Justice Vikram Nath dismissed his petition, bringing relief to the MLA.

Earlier, Naik had approached the Telangana High Court, which also ruled in Lakshmi’s favour. He then moved the Supreme Court, challenging the High Court’s order.
