Khammam: Telangana State has emerged as a major food grains supplier in the country, noted Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar.

The State has produced an unprecedented quantity of three crore tonnes of paddy this year, he said speaking after inaugurating a Rythu Vedika and Vaikuntadhamam at Vallabhi village in Mudigonda mandal in the district on Monday.


Ajay Kumar along with Zilla Parishad Chairman, Lingala Kamalraj inaugurated Rythu Vedikas at Mudigonda, Chirumarri and Pammi villages in Madhira Assembly constituency. The minister said that aiming to unite the farmers, Rythu Vedikas were built in all clusters in the district. The Chief Minister, K Chandrashekhar Rao has been introducing innovative programmes to increase the State’s wealth and to spend the same on farmer’s welfare and Telangana’s economic growth, he noted.

With an objective of transforming rural areas Palle Pragathi programme was implemented and as many as 12, 557 gram panchayats in the State were now equipped with tractors, trolleys, tankers. The programme helped to prevent viral fevers, dengue and malaria as extensive sanitation and cleanliness drives were taken up.

Once in every six months the State government was crediting an amount of Rs 15,000 crore into the bank accounts of around 60 lakh farmers across the State under Rythu Bandhu Scheme. Likewise Aasara pensions were being given to around 38 lakh people under different categories.

Last year the government waived crop loans below 25, 000 for about 2.96 lakh farmers. Similarly the government decided to waive crop loans below Rs 50, 000 for six lakh farmers and the amount would be credited from August 15 to 31, Ajay Kumar informed.

Later in the day, the minister along with Madhira MLA Bhatti Vikramarka and ZP Chairman Kamalraj inaugurated a newly built Mandal Praja Parishad Primary School building constructed at a cost of Rs 8.30 lakh at Patarlapadu village of Chintakani mandal in the district. TS Seeds Corporation Chairman, K Koteshwar Rao, MLC B Lakshminarayana, DCCB Chairman, K Nagabhushanam, District Collector, VP Gautham and others were present.
