Hyderabad: After Congress MLA J. Anirudh Reddy decided to stage a fast unto death over a shortage of funds and delays in clearing bills, TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud admitted that the State was facing a fund crunch.
“Not just in Jadcherla constituency, there is a shortage of funds in many constituencies,” he said at a press conference here on Thursday.
However, Goud said the legislator’s manner of expressing his concerns was inappropriate despite the fund shortage. He maintained that the government was taking steps to overcome the financial challenges, but streamlining the situation would take time. “Anirudh Reddy’s issue will be handled by the Disciplinary Committee,” Goud said. He also blamed the previous BRS government for the current financial crisis. The Congress government was struggling to meet its funding requirements because of the debts left behind by the previous government, he alleged.
Meanwhile, Goud said there was no need to politicise former Minister Konda Surekha’s withdrawal of her earlier remarks against BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao. He said Surekha had been dropped from the State Cabinet under special circumstances. She had made certain remarks against Rama Rao in the past, which she had now withdrawn. Goud asserted that Surekha continued to be a Congress leader and that the party would stand by her.
“We will analyse the circumstances under which she made those comments. The court case will also be withdrawn. Why is there a need to politicise this issue? To my knowledge, there is no politics involved in this matter,” he said.
He added that people sometimes made remarks they later regretted. Those who acknowledged their mistakes were true humans, he said.
“If I make any comments due to a slip of the tongue, I will admit my mistake without any reservations,” Goud said.
