Telangana: Farmer attempts suicide in Nalgonda district defaulting on loan repayment

The farmer, Gouni Venkanna, had borrowed Rs 1.6 lakhs from the cooperative bank but was unable to repay the loan on time

Nalgonda: A farmer from J Edavelli village in Kanagal Mandal, Nalgonda district has attempted suicide due to mounting pressure from bankers for loan repayment.

The farmer, Gouni Venkanna, had borrowed Rs 1.6 lakhs from the cooperative bank but was unable to repay the loan on time.


Despite hopes of a loan waiver, no relief materialised for him till now.

Unable to bear the stress, Venkanna consumed pesticides in an attempt to end his life. He was rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Doctors performed a stomach wash, and he is currently under observation. Venkanna is said to be battling for his life in the hospital.
