Suryapet: Nalgonda MP N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Thursday said that only farmers of Telangana State were deprived of any crop insurance facility in the country.
Speaking at a party meeting at Nereducherla to review the digital membership drive of the Congress party, Uttam Kumar Reddy said the Central government, in a reply to his question in Lok Sabha, clarified that Telangana was the only State which was not implementing crop insurance scheme in the country. He held the TRS government responsible for it.
The Congress leader also opposed statements made by TRS leaders asking farmers not to take up cultivation of paddy in Yasangi crop season.
Reminding that Nagarjuna Sagar Project was constructed during Congress rule, he questioned whether every acre of agricultural land in Nereducherla and Palakeedu mandals were getting irrigation facility through the project.
He alleged that Huzurnagar MLA has changed the places of construction of lift irrigation scheme, which got funds from NABARD, only to get commissions from the contractor. Uttam said that the TRS government had failed to fulfill its poll promises of filling job vacancies, distributing three acres of agricultural land to landless Dalit families and reservations to Muslims and tribals on a pro-rata basis with their population.
