Telangana: Farmers receive Rythu Bandhu benefit
On the first day of disbursement, about 16.95 lakh farmers with less than one acre land have received about Rs 516.96 crore into their respective bank accounts under the scheme.
Hyderabad: The Agriculture department kickstarted disbursement of the investment support of Rs 5,000 per acre to farmers in the State under the Rythu Bandhu scheme for the ensuing Vaanakalam (Kharif) season on Tuesday. Nearly 63.25 lakh farmers will receive about Rs 7,508.78 crore for cultivable land of around 1.5 crore acres, into their bank accounts.
On the first day of disbursement, about 16.95 lakh farmers with less than one acre land have received about Rs 516.96 crore into their respective bank accounts under the scheme. From 10 am onwards, the farmers started receiving the SMS alerts on their cellphones informing about the Rythu Bandhu amount being credited into their respective bank accounts. Arrangements have been made to deposit another Rs 1,152.46 crore into the bank accounts of 15.07 lakh farmers with upto 2 acres land on Wednesday, covering 23.05 lakh acres.
Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy thanked Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and the authorities for releasing necessary funds under Rythu Bandhu scheme, for the benefit of farmers despite the Covid-19 pandemic. The amounts will be disbursed into the bank accounts of farmers till June 25.
The State government has spent Rs 14,656.02 crore for the 2020-21 financial year for the Rythu Bandhu scheme, while it has allocated Rs 14,800 crore in the State budget for 2021-22 to cater to the needs of Vaanakalam and Yasangi seasons this fiscal. The highest number of 4.72 lakh farmers with an extent of 12.18 lakh acres of land from Nalgonda district, will benefit from the scheme during this season.
