Hyderabad: The “Kite Eye Technology” employed by the Telangana Fire Department is proving invaluable to fire personnel, particularly during emergencies in Hyderabad.

All fire engines across Greater Hyderabad region under the Fire Department are equipped with GPS technology, allowing them to be monitored in real-time from the Central Fire Command and Control Centre.

The innovative system, aptly called as “Kite Eye” enables the command centre to track the movement of all fire engines, much like the kite that soars above, but is controlled from the ground.

According to the Fire Department officials, this technology helps to ensure that the nearest fire engine can be alerted and rushed to the scene of a fire accident. In addition, it is also provides verified details including the shortest route and direction to reach the spot at the earliest.

Moreover, information about water sources in the area is also provided by the system, which can be crucial for effective fire fighting.

“When a fire or accident call is received, the nearest fire engine is automatically alerted and provided with the optimal route and directions. This helps the fire personnel to reach the spot quickly to take up immediate measures to prevent life loss or property loss,” said a fire official.

This system aims to reduce response time by allowing fire engines to reach accident spots faster, especially in areas with heavy traffic.
