Hyderabad: Following the instructions from State Government, all the departments are intensifying efforts to get their staff vaccinated at the earliest.
On Thursday, the forest department launched a special vaccination centre at Aranya Bhavan here and about 90 employees got the vaccine administered on day one.
In all, there are close to 6000 employees in the forest department and majority of them are posted in different districts, especially on the fields.
Of these, nearly 75 percent of employees have already got vaccinated till date. The balance employees will be administered with vaccines in a few days. Since last year, 236 staff members had tested positive and 11 had succumbed to the virus.
In view of the increasing Covid-19 cases, Forests and Environment Minister A Indrakaran Reddy had instructed all the forest personnel working in the field to get vaccinated.
He said the forest department staff, especially those in the field, at checkposts and base camps to be more cautious during the next couple of months, in the wake of increasing Covid-19 cases.
The field level personnel on duty in the Forest department are working for fire prevention, curbing hunting and smuggling activities.
The Minister sought details of employees and staff vaccination with the department officials.
Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (PCCF) R Shobha informed him that a special vaccination centre was set up at Aranya Bhavan and informed that all covid guidelines were being followed strictly.
“We are constantly coordinating with district medical officers to make arrangements for administering Covid-19 vaccine for forest department personnel on priority,” she said.
