Telangana Formation Day celebrated in erstwhile Medak
Finance Minister Harish Rao said that Siddipet which was the epicentre of the Statehood movement had now emerged as a model for development for the rest of the State
Siddipet: The State Formation Day celebrations in erstwhile Medak district was a muted affair due to Covid-19 pandemic. Finance Minister T Harish Rao offered floral tributes at Maryar’s memorial at Rangdhampally Junction near Siddipet before proceeding to the District Collectorate to unfurl the national flag to mark the day.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion here on Wednesday, Harish Rao, describing Siddipet as the epicentre of the Statehood movement under the leadership of TRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao, had now emerged as a model for development for the rest of the State.
Saying that Chandrashekhar Rao shook New Delhi with his 14 year battle to force the Centre to carve out Telangana State, the Minister said Telangana achieved progress in seven years what the remaining ruling parties could not do in the previous 70 years. He elaborated the various development and welfare schemes taken up by the government.
Zlla Parishad Chairperson, V Roja Sharma, Collector Siddipet P Venkatrami Reddy, Commissioner of Police D Joel Davis and others were present.
Meanwhile, Home Minister Mahmood Ali and Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav have hoisted the national flags in Sangareddy and Medak districts respectively to mark the day.
KCR to inaugurate new collectorate, police commissionerate buildings in Siddipet
Siddipet: Finance Minister T Harish Rao on Wednesday said the new Integrated Collectorate Complex building and Police Commissionerate building at Duddeda in Siddipet district will be inaugurated by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao in the second week of June.
Making several suggestions after inspecting the progress of works in the two buildings, the Minister asked the officials to get furniture besides providing internet connectivity to both the offices immediately. He also suggested tree plantation for shade behind the Collectorate, the place allotted for parking.
The Minister instructed the officials to complete all the pending works within two days in both the buildings and make them ready for inauguration. District Collector P Venkatrami Reddy, Commissioner of Police D Joel Davis and others were present. (eom)
