Hyderabad: Former sarpanches demanded the State government to clear their long-pending bills and stressed that the Rs 153 crore that was released on Wednesday were contractors’ bills.

The funds released by the State government pertain to the contractors’ bills taken up under Special Development Fund. The sarpanches’ bills have not been cleared yet, said Telangana Sarpanch Sangham JAC president S Yadaiah Goud.

In a statement issued on Thursday, he charged that the government cleared the contractors’ bills and was projecting as funds released for sarpanches bills.

The government should release State Finance Corporation funds for clearing cheques, which were approved by AEs and Des in the past. Bills for works, which were taken up after approval by gram panchayats, pending MGNREGAs bills and the cumulative pending bills of sarpanches, he demanded.

To this effect, a representation was submitted to the Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Secretary Lokesh Kumar on Thursday.
