Hyderabad: Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla has officially nominated M Kodanda Rama Reddy and Mohammad Azharuddin to the Telangana Legislative Council.
The nomination was notified through GOMs No 71 dated April 26. The GO mentions that the nomination would be subject to the final outcome of the appeals pending in this regard.
The former cricketer Azharuddin had taken oath as Minister in October last. As per rules, it was mandatory for him to be a Member of either the Legislative Assembly or Council within six months and the deadline would elapse by April 30.
Last week, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Legislative Affairs Minister D Sridhar Babu met the Governor and urged him to consider the nomination of Mohd Azharuddin and prof M Kodandaram as MLCs under the Governor’s quota.
Their nominations were earlier approved by the State Cabinet but remained pending with the Lok Bhavan since the last Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, who has now been transferred to Maharashtra.
