Hyderabad: Cutting across the party lines, opposition parties on Monday said the budget presented by the Finance Minister T Harish Rao did not fulfill the aspirations of the people in the State.
The Congress, BJP, CPI and CPM took exception to the State government for presenting the budget without the Governor’s address in the State Assembly. CLP leader Bhatti Vikramarka said the budget was far from the truth and the State government came up with new schemes keeping in view the next elections.
“There is no link with the amount spent after making allocations to various departments in the budget last year,” he said, adding that the budget was not beneficial to employees and farmers. He said the budget, which was presented in violation of the norms, disappointed everyone.
Speaking to media persons at the Assembly media point, Vikramarka and other Congress MLAs complained that they were trying to raise a point of order but were not given a chance to speak. “This amounted to stifling our voice and we will raise the issue with people” they said. The MLAs also complained that neither the chair nor the leader of the House cared about their objections.
Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president A Revanth Reddy found with the State government for failing to fulfill the unemployment dole promise and criticized for reducing the amount of Rs.5 lakh to Rs.3 lakh for those intended to construct their house in their land. He said the Congress would condemn the suspension of three BJP MLAs for the entire session.
Telangana BJP State president Bandi Sanjay Kumar said the State government should continue the proceedings in the Assembly in a democratic manner and flayed the government for suspending the three MLAs. BJP MLA Eatala Rajender said the party would explore the legal options on the suspension of three party MLAS including him from the House.
CPI State Secretary Chada Venkat Reddy criticized the State government for failing to come to the rescue of contract employees and unemployed youth while CPM State secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram said the State government was making huge allocations but failing to spend them appropriately for the benefit of the people.
