Nirmal: Forest Minister Indrakaran Reddy asserted that the State government was giving paramount importance to comprehensive growth of the women. He was speaking at a programme to celebrate the International Women’s Day in Nirmal on Monday. Zilla Parishad Chairperson K Vijayalaxmi also attended the programme.

Indrakaran Reddy opined that women were excelling in many fields on par with men. He stated that the State government was striving hard for the welfare of the women. He cited Kalyana Lakshmi, Shaadi Mubarak, Arogya Lakshmi schemes, besides extending milk and eggs to pregnant women, new mothers and children.


The Minister further said that pregnant women were being provided with transportation facility to visit hospitals under Amma Odi scheme. He stated that financial aid was also being provided to them through KCR Kits scheme. He added that single women and females who rely on rolling beedis, were also being provided with social security pension.

Indrakaran, addressing a gathering after inaugurating a Rythu Vedika building at Beeravalli village in Sarangapur mandal, stated that the farmer-mobilising facilities were a role model to the country. He hailed Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for his outstanding administration of the State and introduction of innovative welfare schemes.

Meanwhile, employees of various departments took part in programmes organised to mark the Women’s Day in Mancherial, Adilabad, KB Asifabad districts, which were attended by the Collectors of Mancherial and Adilabad districts as the chief guests. Skits, dance shows and felicitation of women who shined in various fields. Employees of Integrated Child Development Scheme performed a baby shower for Adilabad Collector Sikta Patnaik and presented fruits and gifts.

In Mancherial district centre, Collector Bharati Hollikeri and District Forest Officer Shivani Dogra were felicitated by Municipal Chairperson Penta Rajaiah. Cultural programmes were organised in connection with Women’s Day. District Welfare Officer Rauf Khan and many other officials were present.
