Medak: District Collector S Harish said the government would set up 311 procurement centres across Medak district this year as they were expecting over 5 lakh metric tonnes of paddy production this Vanakalam.
Addressing a review meeting with the officials of departments concerned here on Wednesday, the Collector instructed the officials to keep electronic weighing machines, gunny bags, tarpaulins, moisture measuring devices, paddy cleaners and other requirements ready to procure the paddy without any hurdles.
Saying that the district was having 147 rice mills that include raw rice and parboiled rice ills, Harish directed the officials to geotag the lorries that were hired to transport the paddy, to maintain the transparency. He asked them to hire 800 lorries from two contractors to transport the paddy until the procurement is completed.
The Collector asked the MPDOs, Tahsildars, and Agriculture officials to appoint special offices at the procurement centres to streamline the paddy procurement. The government is offering Rs 1,960 as MSP to A grade paddy and Rs 1,940 ordinary variety.
