Sangareddy: Former Minister T Harish Rao has assured full financial support to MBBS student Perka Sreeja, whose determination helped her overcome economic hardship to secure a medical seat.
Sreeja’s father, Srinivas, does petty jobs to support the family. The student completed her schooling from Class 5 to Intermediate at the Social Welfare Residential School in Mittapalli, Siddipet, and went on to crack the NEET examination, earning admission to Chalmeda Anand Rao Medical College in Karimnagar.
Learning that Srinivas was struggling to arrange the tuition fee, Harish Rao invited the girl and her father to his camp office and presented Rs 60,000, covering her first-year fee. He assured that he would fund her tuition for all four years of the course. He said the increase in the number of medical colleges and seats during the BRS regime helped many students like Sreeja realise their dream of becoming doctors.
Harish Rao has extended similar support to several students earlier in his constituency.
