Hyderabad: Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao said the State has around 90.22 lakh urea bags available across retail outlets, cooperative societies, Markfed warehouses and storage depots.
He assured that there was no shortage of fertilisers in the State. Participating in the Rythu Nestham programme on Tuesday, Nageswara Rao stated that multiple mechanisms have been put in place to ensure timely and transparent distribution of urea to farmers during the ongoing agricultural season. He said the government introduced the Fertiliser App to enable farmers to book urea from their homes, eliminating the need to stand in long queues.
So far, 4.06 lakh farmers have booked 13.22 lakh urea bags through the app, of which 11.18 lakh bags (84.6%) have already been delivered. Of this, the highest number of 1.39 lakh urea bags has been purchased by farmers of Nizamabad district.
To assist farmers without smartphones, the government has also launched a toll-free booking facility, operational from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Minister said the digital system was helping curb black marketing, diversion and illegal sales, while ensuring fertilisers reach genuine farmers.
Despite global supply challenges, he said the government was coordinating with the Centre and arranging transportation through rail and road networks to maintain uninterrupted supplies across districts.
