Telangana HC fines Housing Board for victimising innocent people
HC panel imposed Rs 10,000 costs on the board and directed it to deposit the same in the Covid fund of advocates

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Friday found fault with the Telangana Housing Board for victimising innocent people in its dispute with Indu Eastern Province Projects Private Limited.
A two-judge panel comprising Chief Justice Hima Kohli and Justice A Abhishek Reddy on Friday imposed Rs 10,000 costs on the board and directed it to deposit the same in the Covid fund of advocates.
The Housing Board had filed an appeal challenging an order which directed it to register the flats in favour of petitioners Venu Gopal Reddy and B Shailaja.
The case of the petitioners is that they had paid the entire consideration amount for the agreement entered in 2009, but the board is making the petitioners run from pillar to post stating that the registrations cannot be done pending a dispute between the board and Indu Eastern Province Projects Private Limited.
The panel, dismissing the case, said it is shameful that the board had filed an appeal.
Police should investigate not settle cases: Court
Justice B Vijayasen Reddy of the High Court on Friday said the duty of the police is to investigate a case but not settle them.
“The High Court will not spare high-handed actions of the police in resolving civil disputes,” he said. The judge was dealing with a contempt case filed by Tirupathi Reddy against Srinivas, the Station House Officer at Huzurabad Police Station, Karimnagar. The petitioner complained that despite orders of the court, the police were interfering in a civil dispute. The judge adjourned the case to August 27 for compliance of the earlier order.
Suo moto petition closed
The full bench of the High Court on Friday closed a suo moto writ petition pertaining to the extension of interim orders in the cases pending before the courts and tribunals in Telangana.
Taking suo moto cognisance of the pandemic situation in the State, the full bench comprising Chief Justice Hima Kohli, Justice MS Ramchandra Rao and Justice A Rajashekar Reddy had extended all the interim orders from time to time.
The court on Friday said as the physical courts had started functioning, the writ petition was closed. However, it extended the interim orders till August 18 and directed all the parties to approach respective courts for further extension of interim orders.
