Hyderabad: A two-judge bench of Telangana High Court comprising Acting Chief Justice Sujoy Paul and Justice Renuka Yara on Monday issued notices to the State, GHMC authorities and District Collector of Ibrahimpatnam in a public interest litigation case pertaining to ongoing tunnel drainage project.

The bench took up a PIL case based on a letter addressed to the court by residents. The letter sought directions to the authorities to halt the drainage project until a thorough assessment is conducted to ensure it does not jeopardise the structural integrity of their houses. The letter also sought directions to utilise alternative construction techniques that minimise vibrations and reduce risks to nearby structures.

In addition, the petition sought to direct an independent technical evaluation of the project’s impact on their houses.

Observing the same, the bench directed the District Collector to file counter and adjourned the matter to March 24 for further hearing.
