Hyderabad: Justice E.V. Venugopal of the Telangana High Court on Thursday declined to grant interim stay or set aside the non-bailable warrants issued against Nowhera Shaik, Managing Director of the Heera Group of Companies, by the Special Court for PMLA Cases at Nampally.
The Judge, however, directed the Enforcement Directorate and the Telangana State government to file their response in the writ petition filed by her and adjourned the matter to a date after the High Court vacation. In the meanwhile, the Court directed Nowhera Shaik to surrender before the authorities.
Appearing for the petitioner, counsel A. Padma Chary and Srinivas Pendota submitted that the Special Court had failed to take into consideration their client’s willingness to surrender and comply with the directions issued by the Supreme Court of India in relation to execution of sale deeds in favour of auction purchasers of sixteen properties.
The counsel contended that the delay in completion of the registration process was attributable to lapses on the part of the Enforcement Directorate.
The Special Court had on May 7 issued non-bailable warrants against Nowhera Shaik on the ground that she had failed to comply with the Supreme Court’s order dated April 8, 2026, directing her to surrender before jail authorities within one week in connection with the alleged ponzi scheme cases.
The Apex Court had further clarified that upon surrender and expression of willingness by Nowhera Shaik, she could be escorted under custody to the offices of the concerned Sub-Registrars for execution and registration of sale deeds relating to the sixteen properties auctioned by the Enforcement Directorate, whose purchasers were awaiting registration.
As the directions were allegedly not complied with, the Enforcement Directorate approached the Special Court at Nampally seeking issuance of warrants, following which the Court issued the non-bailable warrants against her.
