Hyderabad: A two-judge panel of the Telangana High Court comprising Justice M S Ramchandra Rao and Justice K Laxman on Friday held Union Bank Regional head Mr. CVN Bhasker Rao and Assistant General Manager of Saifabad Branch, Mr. Rajesh Kumar Singh in willful contempt of court. It imposed an imprisonment for two months and a fine of Rs.20,000 against Devender Reddy. S Anuradha and S Nagaraju filed a contempt case complaining of the violation of court orders. The petitioners maintained that they purchased a piece of land at Peerzadiguda, Uppal, Hyderabad from a vendor not knowing that there was a pending loan on it with Union Bank of India.
The petitioners paid initial amounts when the property was put for auction by the bank. However, the bank favoured Devendra Reddy and confirmed auction in his favour accepting deposit from him. In November 2019, the court directed the bank and Devender Reddy to hand over the possession of the property to the petitioners, but the order was not implemented. The panel took note of the same in allowing the contempt case. It directed the bank officials to approach the Commissioner of Police Rachakonda, SHO Medipalli to secure the position of the property, and deliver the same to petitioners.
