Telangana HC to hear Mahesh Bank Cooperative case on Thursday

Telangana HC to hear Mahesh Bank Cooperative case on Thursday

Hyderabad: Justice P Naveen Rao will hear on Thursday two writ pleas dealing with the ongoing controversy surrounding the elections to the Mahesh Cooperative Bank. The elections to the cooperative bank spilled over to the streets with different groups dealing with the varying claims on the legality of the election process, including the need to announce the results. The case will be heard on merits on Thursday.

HC will file contempt case against Tahsildar

Justice M S Ramachandra Rao of took on file a contempt case against the Tahsildar, Kesampet Mandal Ranga Reddy district. The judge is dealing with a contempt case complaining of violation of the order made by the court in a writ petition of 2019.

The petitioner filed a writ petition against the action of the Tahsildar in making entries and mutating the name of unofficial respondent in Form 1B ROR for the year 2019, in respect of in spite of a stay order granted in July 2005.

According to the petitioner, the action of the authorities was contrary to the provisions and rules of Telangana Rights in Land and Pattadar Passbooks Act. The court had passed an interim direction directing the authorities to not to disburse the pending ‘Rythu Bandhu’ cheques to the unofficial respondent with respect of the subject land. It is alleged that in violation of stay order granted, the RDO Shadnagar Division, Shadnagar, RR district acted in willful violation of the court orders.

The judge directed AGP Revenue to file additional counter stating the steps taken by the authorities for recovery of amount paid to the unofficial respondent and posted the matter to December 31.

Case of Girijan Bhavan

Justice Shameem Akhter directed the revenue authorities to consider representations for the construction of Girijan Bhavan in Manuguru Mandal Bhadradri-Kothagudem district. The judge made the order while dealing with a writ petition filed by Kunja Ramakrishna in commencing measuring to an extent of Ac 020 gts at the site in question, contrary to claims and representations made to the authorities.

PIL challenges MLC nominations under Governor’s quota

A two-judge panel of the Telangana High Court comprising Chief Justice Raghvendra Singh Chauhan and Justice B Vijaysen Reddy on Wednesday ordered notice to the State government in a public interest litigation challenging the nomination of 3 MLC candidates under the Governor’s quota.

The panel was dealing with a PIL filed by Dhanagopal Rao, a resident of the city. The government order issued by the General Administration Department confirmed the appointment of Goreti Venkanna, singer and lyricist, and two leaders Baswaraju Saraiah and Boggarapu Dayanand. The petitioner pointed out that the nomination by Governor was based on a Cabinet decision.

He contended that such involvement of Executive in the exclusive power of the Governor was unconstitutional. Directing the state to file its response, the panel adjourned the case by four weeks.
