Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court has quashed a criminal case against Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. The allegations involved flying of a drone over a farmhouse in Janwada in 2020, for which the Narsingi police had registered a case alleging that Reddy, then a Member of Parliament, had flown a drone and taken photographs of the farmhouse.

The police had filed the case under the Aircraft Act and various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Reddy was jailed in connection with the case and subsequently filed a quash petition in the High Court, arguing that the case was based on false allegations.

Justice K Lakshman heard the petition and noted that the area where the drone was allegedly flown, Miyakhanagadda, was not a notified prohibited area. The petitioner’s lawyer argued that there was no notification from the central government declaring the area as a prohibited zone. They also contended that the sections of the Aircraft Act and other sections invoked by the police were not applicable.

The High Court, after hearing the arguments, ruled that there was no evidence to prove that the area where the drone was flown was a prohibited area. Consequently, the court quashed the FIR registered against Revanth Reddy.
