Telangana hikes minimum wages up to Rs. 20,000 per month

The Telangana government announced revised minimum wages ranging from Rs. 16,000 to Rs. 20,000 per month, effective from June 1. The decision, announced by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, is expected to benefit over 1.11 crore workers across the State.

Hyderabad: The Telangana government announced a hike in minimum wages, with revised monthly wages ranging between Rs. 16,000 and Rs. 20,000. The new wages will come into effect from June 1.

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, along with Labour Minister G Vivek Venkatswamy, made the announcement at a press conference here on Thursday.


The government has classified workers into four categories, including unskilled, semi-skilled, skilled and highly skilled, and divided the State into three zones for wage determination.

This decision is expected to directly benefit over 1.11 crore workers across Telangana. The revised minimum wages for unskilled workers have been fixed at Rs. 16,000 (earlier Rs. 12,750), semi-skilled workers at Rs. 17,000 (earlier Rs. 13,152), skilled workers at Rs. 18,500 (earlier Rs. 13,772) and highly skilled workers at Rs. 20,000 (earlier Rs. 14,607).
