Medak: Former Minister T Harish Rao accused the Congress government of releasing Rs 14,000 crore to big contractors denying crop loan waivers and Rythu Bharosa to farmers and salaries and pensions to employees. He said the Congress government was delaying the release of funds to small contractors, sarpanches, MPTCs, and others.

Speaking to news reporters before participating in an Iftar in Medak on Tuesday, Harish said ASHA workers did not get their salary until March 25.

Exposing Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s claims of lack of funds in the State exchequer, Harish questioned how the government could take up works worth Rs 20,000 crore in HMDA, Rs 15,000 crore in HMWSSB, and Rs 7,000 crore in GHMC if they really had no funds.

He said the Chief Minister was taking up a ten-line work to Amangal, his mother-in-law’s home, with an outlay of Rs 5,000 crore.

He accused Revanth Reddy of taking up Future City works by spending huge amounts since he and his kin had their lands there. The former Minister said Revanth Reddy was granting funds for these works and big contractors because he was getting his share from them.

Since releasing funds for the crop loan waiver and Rythu Bharosa would bring in nothing for the Chief Minister, the government was not releasing funds for these schemes, the BRS MLA alleged.

When the BRS tried to raise these issues in the ongoing Budget session in the Assembly, the former Minister said the Speaker undemocratically cancelled the Question Hour, suppressing the voice of the opposition.
