Hyderabad: The Intermediate Education Joint Action Committee (JAC) on Friday opposed the State government’s proposal to merge the SSC and intermediate boards in the State.
JAC chairman Dr P Madhusudhan Reddy said the JAC would not accept the proposed merger, stating that such a move would be harmful to the intermediate education system in the State.
Dr Reddy said that supporting the merger of the two boards by some intellectuals showed a lack of understanding of ground reality. He demanded that the intermediate education system introduced by former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao must be continued as it is.
Dr Reddy urged the State government to introduce the mid-day meal scheme, similar to government schools, in all 430 government junior colleges.
He also urged the government to provide two sets of uniforms and free RTC bus passes to students studying in the government junior colleges. He wanted the government to sanction and fill the vacant junior lecturer and regional inspection officer posts at the earliest.
