Telangana: Journalists in fray in MLC polls
A TV journalist and Yuva Telangana Party working president Gogula Ranirudrama Reddy of Narsampet town launched her election campaign here on Wednesday by attending a meeting with the graduate voters.
Warangal Urban: Even though nearly half a dozen journalists nurture the aspirations of contesting in the Warangal, Khammam and Nalgonda graduates’ MLC constituency in the ensuing election, it is almost confirmed that at least two of them will be in the fray.
A TV journalist and Yuva Telangana Party working president Gogula Ranirudrama Reddy of Narsampet town launched her election campaign here on Wednesday by attending a meeting with the graduate voters. Another journalist B Jayasarthi Reddy also threw in his hat as the CPI candidate. A native of Mahabubabad, Jayasarathi Reddy’s family members have been sailing with the CPI for over four decades, and he too worked for the party as student wing leader for some time.
Speaking to Telangana Today, Jayasarathi Reddy said, “A formal announcement on my candidature will be made by the CPI in a day or two. While the CPI is seeking the support of the CPM and other Left parties, it has decided to support the CPM candidate in Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy and Mahabubnagar constituency,” he added.
The other aspirants include PV Srinivasa Rao, who is trying for a ticket from the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi, Donthu Ramesh of Mahabubabad (aspiring for a congress ticket). Meanwhile, it is learnt that another journalist Chintapandu Naveen Kumar alias ‘Teenmaar Mallanna’ is also trying to contest from the same constituency. He is also reportedly seeking the support from the Congress.
The ruling TRS has not yet announced the candidate, but has asked the party leaders including Ministers to launch the campaign. As a part of this, Ministers Errabelli Dayakar Rao and Satyavathi Rathod have conducted several meetings with the party activists in Warangal recently.
