Two cases were registered against those who employed the children, while 44 children were handed over to their parents and nine were shifted to a rescue home, Dutt said.

He said the responsibility to protect the rights of children lies with everyone in society and urged the public to lend their support to eliminate the menace of child labour.

Operation Smile will continue to protect the rights of children and eradicate the system of child labour, he added.

Dutt asked the public to inform the police or Child Helpline 1098 if they found anyone employing children or missing children.

Strict action would be taken against those who employ children as per the law.

He appreciated officers and staff for making Operation Smile a success.
