Khammam: In the tenth case this year that the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) registered in erstwhile Khammam district, Khammam rural mandal sub-registrar and a private document writer were caught in a bribery case.

Sub-Registrar Jekki Aruna and document writer Puchakayala Venkatesh were caught red handed by ACB Khammam unit at sub-registrar office when they allegedly accepted Rs 30,000 as bribe from a complainant.

The accused officer demanded the money to register a gift deed document of a land in the name of the complainant’s son. The land with an extent of 2,700 square yards in survey no: 713/A2 at Thallampadu village in the mandal was jointly owned by the complainant and his wife.

The sub-registrar at first demanded Rs.50,000 but agreed to do the work for Rs 30,000. The document writer accepted the bribe amount at the behest of the sub-registrar. Both Aruna and Venkatesh were produced before special judge for SPE and ACB cases, Warangal, Khammam range ACB DSP Y Ramesh said.

This was the second ACB case registered in May. It might be recalled that ACB sleuths arrested an SCCL driver Annaboina Rajeshwar Rao on charges of collecting huge amounts of cash promising jobs and transfers in the company on May 6.
