Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s style of functioning has now come under scrutiny from within his own party, with several Congress MLAs voicing concerns over his approach towards governance and handling of party affairs.
Munugode MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy, who has consistently taken a critical stance against Revanth Reddy, had once again attacked him on Wednesday, questioning the Chief Minister’s priorities and accusing him of ignoring core governance issues.
Rajgopal Reddy, who has been vocal about being denied a Cabinet berth, also met Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shiva Kumar at a hotel in Hyderabad, further fuelling speculation within party circles.
Speaking to the media, the Munugode MLA urged the Chief Minister to cut down on long-winded speeches and focus instead on administration and implementation of promises.
“People are hating the Chief Minister for his arrogance and abusive language towards the opposition. They are demanding the Congress to speak on its achievements and delivering promises,” Rajgopal Reddy said in a video circulating on social media.
He claimed that development had taken a backseat in rural areas over the last 20 months. “The Chief Minister does not have to get into a frenzy. The Congress will be in power for the next three years. He should lay emphasis on governance,” he added.
Several Congress MLAs have reportedly expressed dissatisfaction over perceived discrimination in fund allocations. Rajgopal Reddy took exception to the reported allocation of Rs 5,000 crore to the Chief Minister’s Kodangal constituency. Narayankhed MLA P Sanjeeva Reddy also echoed this concern, stating that he would be happy if at least 25 per cent of what was given to Kodangal was given to other constituencies.
Jadcherla MLA J Anirudh Reddy had earlier raised concerns about Andhra Pradesh-based contractors dominating major works in Telangana. Echoing the sentiment, Rajgopal Reddy also alleged that contractors from Andhra Pradesh were exploiting Telangana’s resources under the Congress government.
“Contractors from Andhra Pradesh are looting the State and its resources. Taking undue advantage of the power, any attempt to loot Telangana will not be tolerated and will be strongly opposed,” he warned. “If need be, we will put up a fight and save Telangana,” Rajgopal Reddy asserted.
