Kothagudem: The district police arrested six persons for transporting sand with fake waybills.

Speaking to the media at Aswapuram police station on Thursday, Manugur DSP V Ravinder Reddy said that the fake waybills case came to light when police inspected a sand truck at Jaggaram crossroad under the police station limits on October 8.

Its driver, Nati Ramulu, showed the waybill, which was found to be a fake one. He told police that the truck owner, Karnati Sivashankar of Hyderabad, had given him the waybill and a person had loaded sand without a DD at the Ramanujavaram ramp.

The police registered a case and during investigation found that three employees of TGMDC, Daggu Nikhil Deep, Nagelli Madhu and B Anil, a JCB driver Iragadindla Upender and ramp supervisor Sathish Reddy were involved in the case.

When the police visited the truck owner Sivashankar’s house in Hayathnagar, Hyderabad and questioned him, he confessed to the police that he was preparing the fake waybills.

He said that he was taught how to prepare fake waybills by Kiran of Bhongir district; they both had prepared fake waybills related to several reaches and smuggled sand several times. Kiran had gone to jail in 2023 for preparing fake waybills

Accused including Kiran, Sathish Reddy and a lorry owner Surve Srikanth remain absconding.

Police urged anyone with information about the case to contact Aswapuram SHO at 8712682093 or Manugur DSP at 8712682006.
