Accused Bhuri Singh and Kamal Singh of Agra procured ganja in the forests of Tulasipaka in AP to smuggle it to UP at the behest of a real estate dealer
Kothagudem: Kothagudem one-town and CCS police have seized ganja worth Rs 3.63 crore at the district headquarters on Saturday and arrested two persons.
Ganja weighing 727.36 kg was seized during vehicle inspections at Seshagirinagar. The substance was concealed in a special chamber made between a truck’s cabin and its carriage.
The accused Bhuri Singh and Kamal Singh of Agra district in UP procured ganja in the forests of Tulasipaka in Chintoor mandal of AP on Thursday to smuggle it to Agra at the behest of a local real estate dealer Shivam Gupta.
A case was registered against the above trio along with seven others Korra Sitaramulu, Vantala Vishwanath, V Babu Rao, K Chinna Rao, K Sai Babu, K Shankar Rao and Bhadri, who sold ganja to the trio, informed Superintendent of Police B Rohith Raju.
The SP appreciated one-town CI Karunakar, SI Vijaya, CCS Inspector Ramakanth, SIs Pravin, Rama Rao and staff for intercepting the ganja truck and arresting the accused.
In another incident at Paloncha in the district, Khammam excise enforcement officials seized 51.27 kg ganja worth Rs 28.80 lakh and arrested three persons, said Excise CI S Ramesh. The accused brought the substance at Odisha’s Malkangiri to smuggle it to Pune in Maharashtra.
