Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao criticised Congress for allegedly planning to remove NTR Ghat, the memorial of legendary actor and former Chief Minister of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh NT Rama Rao.

Responding to Congress MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy‘s remarks to construct a new Assembly in the location, he charged Congress with disrespecting Telugu pride and erasing historical symbols.

Taking to X, Rama Rao said the Congress leaders do not value history and cannot respect the legends. “Why make such cheap remarks towards NTR who fought for self-respect of Telugu people? All that the Congress leaders are habituated to is – demolition, alteration and erasing signs of great leaders. Congress focuses on destruction, not governance,” he said, condemning the Congress party’s “perverse ideas.”

BRS MLAs Maganti Gopinath and Madhavaram Krishna Rao also condemned the remarks made by Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy, stating that Congress, which opposed NTR’s initiatives during his lifetime, continues to target his legacy. They recalled NTR’s contributions, including the Tank Bund project, for development of Hyderabad city, despite Congress’s resistance.

They said the Congress allegedly attacked NTR’s properties in the past, and were now targeting his legacy. “Even after his death, Congress seems afraid of NTR’s legacy,” they said.
