The move by the department comes as some private school managements were demanding parents to pay the complete fee for issuance of TC.
Hyderabad: The Transfer Certificate, the all-important document for a school admission that has for many years made parents run from pillar to post, could soon become obsolete in Telangana with the School Education Department proposing that admissions be given without TCs.
The proposal, which has been sent to the State government seeking its nod, means that students will no longer have to submit the TC for admission, a mandatory practice all these years.
The move by the department comes as some private school managements were demanding parents to pay the complete fee for issuance of TC. In view of the Covid-19 pandemic, all educational institutions in the State are closed till further orders and to ensure continuity of academics, online classes are being conducted by schools across the State.
Though the classes were being held online, some private schools had been forcing parents to pay the full fee, with most schools allegedly saying that if the full fee was not paid, the student would not be issued a TC whenever he or she wanted to leave the school, officials said.
This was despite the State government issuing GO 46, according to which all private schools in the State should not hike fee for the academic year 2020-21. The schools were also instructed to charge only the tuition fee on a monthly basis. However, many private school managements were insisting that parents pay a full fee for issuance of the TC. Several parents lodged complaints with the department over the issue.
“Schools should not insist on TC from students for admissions. We have sent this proposal to the State government. The idea behind the proposal is to check harassment by schools for fee from parents for issuing the TC,” a senior official said.
