Dubai: A Telangana expatriate, who had spent nearly two decades in the Gulf, was found hanging on the outskirts of Doha recently.

56-year-old Ganta Chinnamutthenna, a native of Armoor mandal in Nizamabad district, had worked in Qatar for nearly 20 years and returned home for good where he was caught in a debt trap after suffering losses in his newly launched dairy business. He was preparing to return home following some differences with the new employer, however, Chinnamutthenna was found hanging on the outskirts of Doha city two weeks ago. Prior to taking the extreme step, he had given some cash which he had arranged to purchase the flight ticket to Hyderabad to a friend and asked him to remit it to his family. He had allegedly told family that his body would help them get Rs.5 lakh in an apparent reference to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s promise of Rs.5 lakh ex-gratia to those who died in the Gulf.

His body was repatriated with the help of the Indian Embassy on Wednesday, sources added.
