Khammam: Nunna Ravi, a Congress worker, went missing in the waters of Nagarjuna Sagar Project (NSP) canal on the outskirts of Khammam city on Wednesday.

He was said to be the personal assistant of former minister Renuka Chowdary in Khammam.

According to police, he went for a swim in the canal at Karunagiri area in the morning along with his friends and was swept away in the swirling waters.

Ch Venkateswar Rao, an eye witness, who said he had taught swimming to Ravi, told reporters that the two of them and some others swam a distance of about 11 km before Ravi went missing.
