Telangana: Man murdered for uploading woman’s photo on Instagram
A 28-year-old man, Edurugatla Sathish, was killed in Rechapally, Jagtial, after posting a photo of a woman on social media. Police arrested four people, including the woman and a minor, following a complaint by Sathish’s father
Jagtial: A 28-year-old man, Edurugatla Sathish, was murdered in Rechapally of Sarangapur mandal for uploading the photo of a woman on social media.
According to police, Sathish had been in a relationship with the woman, a resident of the same village, for the past two years. The two had also lived together for three months before parting ways.
A few days ago, Sathish posted a photo of himself with the woman on Instagram. Enraged, her family members confronted and warned him. Fearing for his safety, Sathish took shelter at his relatives’ house. On Saturday night, the woman’s family members attacked him, throwing chilli powder into his eyes before beating him with sticks. Sathish died on the spot.
Based on a complaint lodged by his father, Rajam, police registered a case and arrested four persons, including the woman and a minor. Jagtial DSP Raghuchander produced the accused before the media on Monday.
