Hyderabad: The southwest monsoon gained momentum in Telangana, with several districts recording heavy rainfall since Saturday morning.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad and its surrounding districts also experienced a sudden change in weather, with moderate spells of rain and overcast skies.

Mancherial district recorded the highest rainfall in the state, with Kannepalli mandal receiving 132.3 mm of rainfall between 8.30 am and noon on Saturday, according to the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS).

Warangal’s Raiparthy mandal recorded 89.3 mm, while Rebbena in Kumuram Bheem Asifabad district received 73.5 mm and Kesamudram in Mahabubabad registered 71.5 mm of rainfall. Heavy spells were also recorded in Bheemini (68.5 mm) in Mancherial district and Kalleda (66.3 mm) in Warangal.

In the Hyderabad region, Medchal-Malkajgiri district recorded the highest rainfall, with Ghanpur (NTPC) in Ghatkesar mandal receiving 22.5 mm. Malkajgiri (9.8 mm) and Abdullapurmet (5.8 mm) also witnessed steady showers until Saturday afternoon.
