Adilabad: A tiger was spotted crossing the national highway 44 on the borders of Nirmal and Adilabad districts on Sunday midnight, triggering panic among motorists. A video clip of the tiger went viral on social media platforms.

The female tiger moving in the forests of Kuntala and Sarangapur mandal is suspected to have crossed the national highway. Some motorists recorded the tiger on mobile phones when it was walking along the highway. Motorists using the stretch were apparently frightened, following the movement of the tiger.

Meanwhile, the video clip was widely shared on WhatsApp groups. Forest officials urged the public not to harm the tiger. They suspected that the tiger from Maharashtra drifted towards Nirmal district in search of territory and a male companion as it was mating season. They stated that efforts were on to ensure smooth passage for the tiger and to prevent human loss.
