Telangana: Mulugu women police undergo cancer screening test
The district police in association with Omega Bannu Cancer and Critical Care hospital has conducted a free cancer screening camp for women police personnel of the Mulugu.
Mulugu: Stressing the need for early detection of cancer so as to cure it, Superintendent of Police (SP) Dr Sangram Singh G Patil has urged the women police personnel to go for the cancer screening tests on regular basis.
The district police in association with Omega Bannu Cancer and Critical Care hospital has conducted a free cancer screening camp for women police personnel of the Mulugu and Jayashankar Bhupalpally districts at the Collector’s conference hall here on Thursday on the occasion of the world cancer day.
Speaking after inaugurating the camp, Patil, who is a doctor by education, emphasized the need for more awareness on cancer screening tests. “Avoidance of cancer-causing substances and awareness can eradicate cancer. The cancer tests should be done once every six months,” he said and adding that women should not feel shy to go for the cancer screening tests.
“Stress is also a major cause of cancer. I want all women in your family to be made aware of cancer. You need to learn and practice things that can help to avoid stress in the police job. Many women work tirelessly with their daily routines and neglect their health. This is leading to diseases,” he added.
Mammography and Pap smear tests were conducted on as many as 83 police personnel including constables, head constables, ASIs and an SI besides 10 employees of the Revenue Department at the camp.
Omega Cancer Hospital Managing Director Dr Charanjit Reddy Veeramalla, Dr Ravinder Reddy, Dr Nikhil Reddy, Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) state managing committee member EV Srinivas Rao, DPRO Premalatha and others were present.
