Telangana: Officials chalk out summer action plan to meet power demand

Hyderabad: With summer fast approaching and to address the increasing electricity demand during the season, the Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Limited chalked out a summer action plan and appointed several senior engineers as nodal officers to oversee and monitor the electricity supply across various circles.
TGSPDCL Chairman & Managing Director Musharraf Faruqui issued orders to this effect on Monday. Additionally, the electricity toll-free number 1912, previously limited to Greater Hyderabad city, has been extended to rural areas.
Consumers can lodge complaints over this tollfree number in case of any interruptions or any emergencies.
In January, the State’s electricity demand touched 14,850 MW, with the Southern discoms accounting for 9,500 MW. Given this trend, it is anticipated that demand during the Rabi season and summer will reach record levels.
