Siddipet: Finance Minister T Harish Rao said Telangana was the only State in the country that is implementing the farmer-empowering Rythu Bandhu scheme besides coming up with a slew of other programmes during the past seven years.
Saying that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has continued the Rythu Bandhu scheme despite facing strong financial challenges during the past couple of years, Rao said that they would soon realise their aim of providing irrigation water to one crore acres to transform Telangana State into Bangaru Telangana. Participating in Rythu Bandhu celebrations, which were being organised as the State spent Rs 50,000 crore on the scheme so far, Rao said the Telangana Chief Minister has become a kinsman to farmers in the State as he came up with a slew of farmer-centric schemes.
During a programme, the Minister distributed Rs 10 lakh worth of Chief Minister Relief Fund cheques to 28 beneficiaries. Earlier, the Minister distributed 134 Kalyana Lakshmi cheques to beneficiaries from Nangunur and Chinnakodur Mandals of his Constituency.
At another TRS party progamme, Rao presented Rs 2 lakh cheques to family members of TRS party workers who died recently in the constituency.
