Peddapalli: A train transporting oxygen tankers from Hyderabad to Raichur in Karnataka caught fire at Chikurai near Peddapalli railway station on Saturday.
Flames engulfed one of the tankers as the oxygen train reached Chikurai. Alert railway officials stopped the train at 38 number railway gate and informed to police. Police and fire service department officials rushed to the spot and separated the burning tanker from oxygen tankers and controlled the fire.
Officials were worried as there was a live electric wire on the top of the tanker that caught fire. However, fire service personnel managed to control the fire and officials heaved a sigh of relief. Though the exact reason is yet to be known, officials suspect that flames could have erupted when brakes were applied.
