Hyderabad: The State government has granted permission to 21 private printers and publishers to sell the unsold sale component textbooks of the academic year 2020-21 in the academic year 2021-22 at the same prices as last year.

A memo to this effect has been issued here on June 22. About 35 lakh textbooks were printed under sale component by the private printers and publishers for the academic year 2020-21. However, only 17 lakh textbooks were sold due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The government has also extended the contract for printing and distribution of sale component textbooks to existing 21 private printers/publishers for the academic year 2021-22 without inviting fresh tenders.
