Hyderabad: The Police Department on Tuesday collected a whopping Rs 5.5 crore from traffic challans, the first day of the one-time discount initiative.

The amount was realised after clearing over 5 lakh challans through the integrated e-challan system.

Meanwhile, Home Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali on Tuesday advised people to avail the discount offered on pending challans and clear them before month-end.

Instructions have already been issued to the police officials to sensitise the vehicle owners to clear the pending challans by intensifying checking at the main routes.
